Inside this journal has a elastic loop to hold a pen or pencil of your choice. It also has a hidden pocket to hold stickers or whatever you want it in. The pages do have dots all over them. For some reason i missed this when ordering. It's not a big deal i think i may use mine to sketch or maybe use it to collage photos. I may write in it to but just depends on how i am feeling. It also has two ribbon to mark the pages. One is white the other is black. I was shocked this journal has 240 pages i have not found one that has this many pages. It is well made and the pages inside are thick. What i love the most is you can use this journal for just about anything you want. It is also a perfect size to fit in a purse or any bag.
