Once it's on push the button on top of it and this will extract the air out of the bottle. To take it off you simply push it to one side slowly then you can remove it. It's very easy to clean just wash with warm water and soap and i let mine air dry. Do not put this in your dishwasher it is not safe for it. It fits wine bottles so nicely.
