Theses have batteries all ready in them. All you need to do is turn them on with a flip of a switch. I was worried at first that theses wouldn't fit me. Boy was i wrong i have tiny wrists and i was able to get them on and off without any issues. The bracelet it's self is a hard plastic. They are kind of glitter. No you don't have to worry about glitter getting on your skin. Theses are great little bracelets.
